Kraken Opus publishes guides, reviews, comparisons, and occasional satire. This policy explains how we choose topics, how reviews work, how we handle corrections, and how we label satire so readers (and search engines) don’t have to guess what they’re reading.
Our goal
Write useful, readable content that’s honest about:
- what we know (and how we know it)
- what we don’t know (and what would change our mind)
- any conflicts of interest or monetization
What we publish (and how it’s labeled)
We aim to make the “type” of post obvious:
- Guides / Explainers — educational content meant to clarify rules, terms, and common questions.
- Reviews / Comparisons — product/service evaluations using stated criteria.
- Opinion — takes and commentary; clearly framed as opinion.
- Satire / Humor — written for laughs; not presented as straight reporting.
If a post includes affiliate links, sponsorships, or a meaningful conflict of interest, we label it clearly.
Research and sourcing
When we make factual claims, we try to rely on:
- Primary sources (official rules, manufacturer specs, official announcements, direct documentation)
- Reputable secondary sources when primary sources aren’t available
If we’re uncertain, we say so. If a claim can’t be verified, we avoid presenting it as fact.
How reviews and comparisons work
We don’t treat “reviews” as vibes. When Kraken Opus publishes a review/comparison, we base conclusions on one or more of the following:
- Hands-on experience (when feasible)
- Verifiable specifications (materials, sizing, production method, durability claims, etc.)
- Documented policies (returns, reprints, turnaround, shipping)
- Customer experience signals (support responsiveness, clarity, consistency)
What we typically evaluate
Depending on the category, we may evaluate:
- Quality & consistency (print clarity, alignment, finish, durability)
- Usability (sleeving/shuffling feel for cards, adhesion for stickers/labels, etc.)
- Turnaround & shipping (production speed, packaging, tracking)
- Support & accountability (how issues are handled, clarity of policies)
- Value (what you get for the price, not just the sticker price)
What we don’t do
- We don’t claim a product is “the best” without stating best for what (use case matters).
- We don’t accept payment in exchange for a guaranteed positive conclusion.
- If we can’t verify something important, we won’t pretend we can.
Monetization, conflicts, and disclosure
Kraken Opus may earn revenue via affiliate links, ads, and sponsorships.
- Affiliate links: If a link may generate a commission, we disclose it.
- Sponsored content: If a post is sponsored or paid, we label it clearly.
- Conflicts of interest / ownership: If we discuss a brand, product, or service that we own, operate, or are directly affiliated with, we disclose that relationship clearly (usually near the top of the article).
(See the sitewide Disclosure page for more detail.)
Satire & humor policy (how we label it)
Some Kraken Opus posts are satire/humor. To prevent confusion:
- Satire posts are labeled (in the title, header, or category/tag)
- They are not written to be mistaken for straight reporting
- If a post blends humor with real references, the satire label still applies
If you ever can’t tell whether something is satire, tell us—we’ll make the labeling clearer.

We take corrections seriously.
