Soon, Memo and Luna stumble upon Chupa’s whereabouts and witness Alex’s unique friendship with the creature, leading to the formation of a bond between all of them. However, their newfound happiness is jeopardized when Quinn unexpectedly arrives at the farm.

How does Quinn find Chupa?

Earlier in the movie, an older Chupacabra is hit by a car driven by Alex’s grandfather, Chava. Chava later discovers Chupa while returning to the accident scene to tow his car back to the farm. Unfortunately, the license plate falls off during the collision, providing Quinn with a crucial clue for tracking down Chava and Chupa.

Chava had purposefully kept the existence of Chupacabras a secret from the children to protect the creature in his barn. However, this secrecy is shattered when Quinn arrives, determined to take Chupa away.

Does Quinn capture Chupa?

Quinn manages to sedate Chupa, intending to capture the drowsy creature. However, Chava, caught in a dementia episode and dressed in his old wrestling attire, intervenes by drop-kicking Quinn and making a daring escape with Chupa and the children in a car.

As they reach the site of the previous car accident, Chupa becomes excited and runs off, with Alex trailing closely behind. Standing at the edge of a cliff, Chupa howls, calling out to his family. In the distance, another howl responds, prompting Chupa to run across a nearby pipe to reach the family member beckoning to him.

While attempting to traverse the pipe, Alex is suddenly confronted by a cougar. Desperately trying to evade the threatening feline, Alex steps on the fragile pipe, causing it to break under his weight. Chava, Luna, and Memo arrive just in time to scare off the cougar, but they can’t save Alex from his precarious position.

In a miraculous turn of events, Chupa, hearing the desperate screams of his beloved friend, swiftly returns and catches Alex just before he tumbles to certain doom. Alex’s life is saved, but Quinn seizes the opportunity to recapture Chupa. However, before he can take the defenseless creature to an uncertain fate in a laboratory, a whole family of Chupacabras swoops down, causing Quinn’s car to halt.

As Quinn desperately pleads with the circling Chupacabras, Chava seizes the moment and skillfully uses his signature wrestling move to take down the wicked scientist, rescuing Chupa once again.

Is this a sad ending?

While Alex promises Chupa that he will always remain by his side, the circumstances dictate otherwise. Chupa needs to be reunited with his family, and Alex must return home to his mother, ultimately leading to their inevitable parting.

However, as the movie concludes, Alex catches a final glimpse of Chupa while aboard his flight back to Kansas. Looking out the window, he spots Chupa flying alongside the plane for a moment. In that fleeting instant, it almost seems as if Chupa is following Alex back home. But then, Chupa veers away and disappears, leaving us with the hope that he has found true happiness alongside his own kind.

Is it a sad ending for Alex?

Not really. As Chupa rejoins his family, we can assume that he goes on to lead a fulfilling and joyous life. Though the fate of Quinn remains uncertain, we can hold onto the hope that his defeat by Chava dissuaded him from ever trying to hunt down Chupa again.

Moreover, Alex experiences a sense of closure and transformation during his time in Mexico. Through the love and acceptance he receives from his newfound family, he begins to heal from the loss of his father and overcome his feelings of loneliness. In this way, Alex’s story concludes with hope and the promise of a happier future.

The Witch: Part 2. The Other One (Manyeo 2: Lo Go) is the sequel to The Witch: Part 1. The Subversion, a dystopian, sci-fi horror-thriller action movie series from South Korea.

This installment focuses on top-secret genetic experiments conducted on children. The Baek twins have successfully created super soldiers – a new breed of hyper-strong humans with superior genes and genetically enhanced brains. These individuals are inherently prone to violence. However, when Ja-yoon kills one of the twins and her sister escapes from a second laboratory, it threatens to unravel everything the Baeks have built.

Who is the girl in the red jacket at the beginning of the film?

The Witch: Part 2. The Other One begins with a young teenage girl wearing a red jacket and listening to a walkman. She is riding a bus with a group of college friends in the early 90s. Unfortunately, their bus is hijacked. The girl in the red jacket is abducted, while the rest of the group is brutally murdered. The authorities later discover the bus in a ravine, assuming it was involved in an accident.

The girl in the red jacket is rendered unconscious and taken to a secret laboratory run by Dr. Baek. It is here that her pregnancy is revealed.

Why is the girl in the red jacket important?

The significance of the girl in the red jacket becomes apparent as the story unfolds. Dr. Baek informs her that she will become the mother of numerous children who will serve as lab rats for their super soldier experiments. One of these children is Koo Ja-yoon, the protagonist from The Witch: Part 1. The Subversion, and the other is the female lead in The Witch: Part 2. The Other One.

However, the importance of the mother extends beyond her role in the experiment. Dr. Baek has embedded a congenital defect within the super soldiers, acting as a control mechanism. This defect triggers painful brain seizures and eventual death. Only a special drug administered monthly can keep these seizures at bay. This means that if the super soldiers were to escape or go rogue, they would face certain demise.

Towards the end of Part 1, Ja-yoon discovers a permanent cure for this defect – it can be extracted from her mother’s bone marrow. The conclusion of Part 2 hints at the possibility of extracting this cure from the mother, who is preserved in a matrix-like suspended animation.

How are the protagonists in the two films different?

The first film’s protagonist is Ja-yoon, portrayed by Kim Da-mi. She is driven by her search for a cure and her love for her foster parents and friends, although she still retains a violent side.

In contrast, The Witch: Part 2. The Other One centers around the character referred to as the Other One, ADP, or Ark 1. Shin Shi-ah takes on this role. As someone who never ate food while in her matrix-like state, ADP falls deeply in love with the joys of eating.

Additionally, ADP is a clone of her mother, resulting in a subconscious connection between the two. This connection further motivates Ja-yoon to find ADP, as she is the only one who can lead them to their mother and the potential permanent cure.

What is Kyung-hee’s story?

Kyung-hee is a young farmer engaged in a battle against the land mafia, led by the ruthless Yong-doo, portrayed by the noted actor Jin Goo. Yong-doo goes as far as killing Kyung-hee’s father to seize their land.

Kyung-hee’s first encounter with ADP occurs when she is forcefully taken by Yong-doo’s thugs. During their journey, they stumble upon a bloodied girl who has just escaped Ark Main. The men coerce her into the car, planning to eliminate her to ensure there are no witnesses. However, they soon realize they are dealing with an unstoppable force. ADP brutally incapacitates the thugs, saving Kyung-hee.

Kyung-hee brings ADP to her home, where she lives with her brother, Dae-gil, in a typical love-hate sibling relationship. The three of them coexist harmoniously, allowing ADP to experience a glimpse of normal life before it is tragically taken away. When Kyung-hee and Dae-gil are murdered by Yong-doo, ADP is hit with an intense type of pain—the trauma of losing loved ones.

This profound pain overshadows ADP’s emotional response upon meeting her blood sister, Ja-yoon, for the first time. When Ja-yoon presents a vial, offering a choice of saving only one of them, ADP is caught in a major quandary. She cannot decide between the two, as both have become incredibly dear to her.

Who is Jang?

Jang, portrayed by the Korean heartthrob Lee Jong-suk, is the nephew of the evil Dr. Baek, played by Jo Min-soo. Jang holds an important position within the organization and is likely responsible for security on behalf of the consortium. However, there is no love lost between Jang and his aunt.

Tensions rise between two rival organizations – the Trans-humans/Superhumanist Organization led by Dr. Baek and the Alliance/Unionists, of which Jang is a significant member. At the start of the film, an unknown force breaches Ark Main, allowing ADP to escape. Jang and Dr. Baek discuss this breach, with Jang hinting that internal forces would be the only ones capable of targeting the top-secret lab. He is furious that Dr. Baek suspects him.

Dr. Baek hires a mercenary team, led by Sergeant Cho Hyun-jo (Seo Eun-soo), to locate and eliminate ADP. This decision could potentially ignite a full-blown gang war, causing Nacho to transform into a bloodthirsty antagonist, only to have Laura retreat back to Massimo’s side. Unfortunately, the movie leaves us hanging, leaving us eager to discover what lies ahead in the next chapter of this gripping franchise!
